In 2004 one of our members arranged for our society to visit one of the longest established private railways in the country. The 9" Torry Hill Railway is situated in the heart of Kent and is NOT open for general visitors. With its origins back in the 1930's it would have been typical of the numerous miniature railways that were so popular on large private estates throughout the country. Hopefully the following pictures convey some of the pleasure we gained from a trip on this delightful railway which is a credit to its owners and operators. Sadly, nothing on this website can give a true indication of the excitement (polite version) of that first trip through the 100' long, curving, pitch dark tunnel..........
