Ride On Railways Quarry Hunslet launch at CDMES

On 5th July 2008 Canterbury & District Model Engineering Society were proud to host the launch of Ride On Railways New Quarry Hunslet 5” gauge locomotive at the CDMES track at Sturry, near Canterbury. The Ride On Railways team were joined at the event by members of CDMES, members of neighbouring Societies and past Ride On Railways customers along with their engines.

Ride On Railways also bought along other examples from their range of electric locomotives for the CDMES members and visitors to test drive and all were very impressed.

CDMES Chairman Paul Kemp said “The Ride On Railways products appear robust and well engineered and those members present were all impressed with their performance. We have subsequently decided to order one of the range as a club loco to give us some 'ready to run' motive power accesible to all members. I would like to thank Paul Middleton of Ride On Railways for giving us the opportunity to host this event. The new Hunslet is an attractive locmotive which we hope will be a success for him”.

The Hunslet is a battery powered narrow gauge steam outline electric loco built close to scale whilst ensuring it will accommodate standard batteries and provide a reserve of power for both club and private running. The locomotive provides ample opportunity for customers to embelish, add detail to suit their own tastes, and requirements; and the motion is particularly well detailed. Priced from £2200 this is the first venture into steam outline electric engines for Ride On Railways and joins an established range of diesel outline locos.
