The Canterbury and District Model Engineering Society staged it’s annual 'Trains and Traction' weekend at its miniature railway at Brett’s Quarries, Sturry on Sunday 11th August.
Society Chairman Paul Kemp said “We have held our ‘Trains and Traction’ weekend for last 12-years when both the locomotives on the miniature railway and the traction engines built or owned by our members and guests from other clubs have all been in operation on the same weekend”.

“On the Saturday, which is staged as a members and guests event we had visitors from the Ramsgate, Gravesend and New Romney model engineering clubs who braved the strong winds and showers and ran a variety locomotives around our track”.

“On the Sunday the event was open to the public and this year we had over 850 visitors throughout day. The queue for rides was long but people waited patiently as our engines and drivers kept up with the workload”.

“For the third year running members of Herne Bay’s Heron Model Boat Club joined us with an a display of model boats, ships and radio controlled lorries which made a great attraction and our thanks go the model boat club for their support of our event”.

“As in previous years we hope we delivered a family experience at a minimal cost and judging by the comments made to our members who manned the gate everybody had a most enjoyable day

Ends.
